The reason I've decided to call this blog 'Rethinking Recipes' is not only because I hope to find and post original recipes, but because of the way I format the recipes I post. I really don't like the generic way that recipes are set up; it's nice to have the ingredients list, but the instructions are always long and sometimes confusing. If I'm making a sauce or something that has a lot of ingredients, it just give me a headache to try and jump from the mini list in the instruction back up to the real list with the measurements. And heaven forbid if the ingredients aren't even in the right order! It's also hard to skim the long instruction that sometimes have unnecessary details. I read one recipe that in the middle of the instruction it proceeded to tell me how to dispose of the oil in my pan safely. AAAHH! Super annoying.
So I decide to format my recipes in a way that puts the ingredients list right next to the instructions. This way makes it easy to see which items are for what purpose and has more concise instruction. It also makes it easier to look at the overall recipe to see how long it will take to make (because we all know that the little 'prep time' summary on the top is never very accurate).
Ideally, these posts will not only be extremely tasty, but will make cooking a bit easier. I hope you enjoy this new way of reading recipes and welcome to 'Rethinking Recipes'!
